IAME: THE YEAR ENDS WITH A BANG AT THE CIK-FIA ASIA PACIFIC CHAMPIONSHIP
The CIK-FIA Asia-Pacific championship for KF1 and KF3 took place in Macao, at the Kart track de Coloane. The single-match competition de facto closes the 2011 season of International Karting and IAME is once again a star, taking home the victory in KF1 and a podium in KF3.
KF1
Grand victory in the final by Daiki Sasaki (Birel/Parilla). The Japanese driver is very fast the whole weekend: he places third in the qualifying sessions and then repeats the result in two out of three heats. Placing 6th in the third heat he is able to conquer 3rd place on the prefinal grid. In this race Sasaki again did great, closing 2nd and also scoring 2nd best track time. Having come in full reach of the title thanks to his great determination and reliability, he then manages to conquer it. His kart is in fact the first to fly past the checkered flag, which means IAME goes to celebrate this last date of the 2011 international season.
The same category also includes drivers Homi Mehta (RK/Parilla) and Tim Wai Wong (Birel/Parilla): in the prefinal the first would’ve closed in 8th place if it hadn’t been for a penalty, but in the final he manages to place 9th after a nice comeback; instead, bad luck strikes the other, who is forced to withdraw from the races that mattered.
KF3
Teruhisa Tanaka (Maddox/Parilla) races an excellent final that with a great rebound allowes him to conquer a well-deserved 3rd place. The Japanese driver actually ends up in 10th position after the heats, despite placing 3rd in the qualifying session. Then in the prefinal he manages to climb nicely up to 5th place, also “braking out” the 2nd best lap. And then in the final he completes his masterpiece rebound, closing with a more than hard-earned 3rd place.
Reyes (Kosmic/Parilla) does better in the heats, placing 8th, while an unlucky Mohite (Birel/Parilla) places 12th (though he later made up for this). In the prefinal both went strong, Reyes 6th and Mohite 7th on the rebound, and keeping right behind Tanaka they managed to create a train propelled by IAME Parilla. Then in the final race a bit of bad luck forces Reyes to close 9th and Mohite to leave the race. Maini (Gillard/Parilla) also does well, showing surprising determination in the heats: he places 7th overall and comes out as the best IAME driver, second only to Tanaka.
