IAME: GREAT VICTORY IN THE "SMALL" 60 MINI
The WSK Final Cup is raced on the 27th/30th October week end on the Abruzzo International Circuit, in Ortona, Italy: the IAME engines are on the 60 Mini podium and also demonstrate excellent reliability in the KF categories.
60 Mini
Lorenzo Travisanutto (Tony Kart/Parilla) dominate the Final Cup. After the 7th place in the qualifying heats, three times first place out of four races, he finishes his final (A) in 1st place, but yet not satisfied he also conquers the final with best lap on track. Behind him, the other drivers are nevertheless fast as much. Martinez Merono (CRG/Parilla) wins one qualifying heat and finishes the pre final A in 4th place and gets an excellent 5th in the final. This position was destinated to Guven Ayancan (Top Kart/Parilla) if he hadn't got a 10 seconds penalty that put him in 18th place; too bad because after the qualifying he was 3rd overall as well as in his pre final (A). Alessandro Stura (Top Kart/Parilla) does also very well until the unlucky final (21st after a contact), he was in fact 4th overall after the qualifying heats and 3rd in the B pre final.
KF3
This category is very crowded with IAME drivers like usual. The best among all is Matthew Graham (Zanardi/Parilla), he works hard in the qualifying heats (17th) but is then author of a thrilling pre final ending 4th overall. He can aim victory but, despite the best lap, he is forced to finish 5th. The week end seemed compromised for Cobian (Birel/Parilla), he has to go through the repechage final to be in for the final phase, and then is able to give his best and finishes 15th in the pre final and a step from the top ten in the final. Behind him comes Lance Stroll (Zanardi/Parilla) 15th, recovering from an unfortunate pre final where he was forced to withdraw after a contact. Ivanovic (DR/Parilla) is also in the spotlight with a 9th overall placement after the qualifying heats.
KF2
Stefano Cucco (Birel/Parilla), author of a splendid season leading the WSK Euro Series, tries to take home also the Final Cup title. The start is fantastic, 3rd after the time qualifying and three excellent placements in the heats: he is 5th at the start of the pre final but he is penalised after some contacts and slips to the 18th. In the final is difficult to recover but despite this, the Italian driver is capable of a good race and finishes 10th overall.
KZ2
Some highlights but also bad luck for Riccardo Negro (DR/Parilla). In his category, the KZ2, that runs together with the KZ1, the Parilla powered driver finishes the finals in 6th place and the final in 7th. In the final he could have reached the podium but is forced to leave after a technical problem.
